  • Entry to Major

At Penn State, undergraduates are admitted to the College of Engineering and select their major in their second year. Bioengineering is currently under enrollment control. This is due to its popularity and limited laboratory facilities and faculty resources. Entry to the major is determined the spring semester of your second year at Penn State. You must have completed (or be in the process of completing), with a C or better, MATH 140, MATH 141, CHEM 110 and PHYS 211. If you have a GPA of a 3.3 or greater you are guaranteed admission to Bioengineering. The cut off GPA is reduced each year to accommodate the target number of students and the actual cutoff GPA for each year varies based on student interest.
